Choosing To Live In Possibility

Since I began my journey as an author while coping with a TBI, I've experienced incredible support from the universe. I've had the honor of meeting some truly amazing people. At first, I found myself thinking, “wow”, there's something incredibly significant about building relationships by opening up and revealing vulnerabilities. Although I felt apprehensive at the start, it quickly dawned on me that no one was critiquing my experiences; they understood me. I connected with individuals whom I genuinely believe are destined to be part of my journey. Then came the worry: “how can I share my story? What makes my experience different from countless others sharing theirs?” Suddenly, realization dawned on me; by asking this question, I discovered my answer… we understand each other through our symptoms and emotions in our symptoms and emotions, yet, despite having TBIs or being caregivers for TBI survivors, each of our stories is unique. In various circumstances we've encountered different outcomes; therefore, each of us has a story that carries significant importance for society, helping to raise awareness. As more of us continue to tell our stories, the wealth of knowledge derived from these experiences will play a crucial role in fostering greater awareness.

As a nurse, I found that none of my training equipped me for the profound ways in which a traumatic brain injury (TBI) can affect someone's life, transforming everything familiar and necessitating a complete reinvention of how to live. I firmly believe that the more individuals share their experiences, the greater the awareness we can create, leading to an improved understanding of TBI and ways to provide assistance.

If you haven't yet explored my book, Invisible: Finding Purpose and Spiritual Awakening After the Storm of Traumatic Brain Injury .....I encourage you to do so. Concussions, post-concussion syndrome, and traumatic brain injuries can affect anyone and often the symptoms are quite subtle. However, the insights gained from a TBI survivor's narrative might provide more assistance than any other resource available.

My book shares the experience of living with TBI. I have received numerous responses from readers indicating how certain sections struck a chord with them; be it my discussions on anxiety, depression, feelings of isolation, or hopelessness, the difficulties involved in facing a situation that was not part of my intended plans. There’s also the desire to accept this "new" version of myself and pursue my journey toward purpose and spiritual enlightenment. Truly, there is something relatable for everyone in my book.
